Ideas! What Car £3 - 4k - maximum fun, minimal financial woe
Discussion
Morning All, sorry for the what car thread but I know you love them really.
Long story short, I bought a 1.2 Clio instead of a v6 alfa GTV back in 2008 as my then girlfriend was learning to drive and pretty much refused the Alfa idea. Something about “hard to park”…
Fast forward to now and I find myself looking at the GTVs again. However; for the past 4 years my sensible mind has been seduced by low-ish mpg and very low maintenance costs.
Any other options I’m overlooking here? The Clio 172/182 is a possibility, but I already have a clio and it’s pretty boring to get one again.
I don’t commute by car and I use it at weekends mainly. I’m trying to convince myself that I won’t notice the difference in costs THAT much....
And before you all shout mx5….unless I cut a couple of inches off the top of my head, that ain’t happening (yes, I know the roof goes down...)

If it's for the weekend, get a Seven-alike. Not much to go wrong, trivial to work on if something does break, bugger all weight so they use very little fuel, and much more fun than a lardy FWD coupe. They can have a surprising amount of headroom inside if you pick the right one, too...
Something like this: http://pistonheads.com/sales/4004322.htm

(no idea how much space there is in a Dax, but there's other brands available at that kind of price and they do vary in size quite a lot).
Or maybe a Fisher Fury:

If that's too hardcore for you, the mk3 MR2 is probably the most fun cheap to run, mass produced car available for that money. Not sure whether you'd fit, though.
