Loads of cars have had pretty much that same roof though. Mk3 Golf, Audi cabriolet, escorts, etc, etc Loads of them

It's not good, but it looks fairly weatherproof, and those cars cost what, 10% of what the Ferrari cost new in the top pic? That roof you have pictured is far, far superior to the Ferrari item.

Aha, I get it. you're taking the soft top in isolation? Sorry I thought it was the whole package (car & roof) in which case fair point, I rescind the post.

Yep that was what I meant. That particular design of roof seems to have been quite successful at the time

I was thinking that had to be a kit car body like the MR2 jobs, I only remembered the 550/575 having the flip top head solid roof SuperAmerica model. But no, this is a 550 Barchetta, that is a 'temporary roof' though, not meant for the full speed of the car, and it's that shape to cover the roll hoops.
