I've only ever been to Donington Park as a standard spectator once, the rest of the time I was working as a photographer with full access...where's good to photograph the action for spectators?

I'm heading up there in the morning to catch the FIA Truck Racing Championship and I'm a little excited, more so because it's the first time my step son has been to anything like that and my first time taking him biggrin

Redgate.

Plenty of first corner action and you can look down to Craners and Old Hairpin too.

Don't know if there is a high fence up now to spoil pics

That's easy..... Goddards. And with those massive trucks all trying to fit round that twisty bit, lots of fabulous picture opportunities. (IMHO) of course.

Good on ya. My step-dad is a truck driver and used to take me to Truck Fest every year (when i wasnt out in the lorry with him). Can't imagine growing up any other way. It pretty much shaped my life (as well as all those airshows).

Have fun!

He's already a dyed in the wool petrol head thanks to his dad being involved in the American scene and his mum being heavily involved in the drag racing scene at Santa Pod.

I've never been truck racing and he's never been circuit racing so he's off his nut with excitement...best thing is, he's doing the photography thing with me today. I don't know who's more excited to be honest rofl

I hope you don't come home disappointed, I think Donington is one of the worst circuits for spectator photography. High fences just about everywhere and run off areas are quite big so you're a distance from the track edge. Last time I went spectators weren't allowed in the in field so some opportunities lost.

I've been to Donington before, but was hungover and stayed on Craner. When I worked there it was all about the inside and outside of Redgate in front of the fences, so it was a little unfamiliar.

They didn't use Goddards yesterday which I was a little disappointed by, but we started on the infield side of Craner, worked our way up to Redgate then down to the right before the start finish and ended up sitting on the outfield hill looking down on Redgate.

I'm quite pleased with what I got despite the fences, which I agree are a pain in the arse

Considering I was a good distance away and not on a dedicated photo mission (doing the family man thing) I'm quite happy with the results
