Wastegate actuator is more than likely what they are referring to. This vents boost pressure when letting off the throttle. If it's sticking shut the boost pressure won't vent properly, the car will think it's overboosting and it can cause all kinds of problems.

Did you bother looking for boost leaks as I suggested in your other thread last night?

Have you dome any of the supporting mods that the 1.8T engines require when remapping? Normaly a larger 'forge' intake pipe is fitted, and a stiffer springed recirculation valve is needed to stop the increased boost from forcing it open and leaking.

R tech say they do a check of the car and check leaks prior to a remap.
This was their selling point on the Golf Forum I was on.

I mentioned the intake pipe in another thread from OP, however OP is feeling a power loss and I'm slightly amazed that the company involved have not even said to look for obvious boost leaks as a starter, as they are probably the most common reason for losing power on a turbo engine, especially on the 1.8T.

If a new wastegate actuator is needed it probably won't be cheap!

Have you got your own fault code reader, or any way of checking for fault codes?

No, thats the dump valve. The wastegate allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbine wheel when the desired boost pressure has been achieved.
