Need a bit of help before I book a Berlingo for our family hire car for our August holiday:

Will it fit 3 full size suitcases, a fold down double buggy, two children in their car seats, plus our hand luggage?

From the pictures of the interior it looks like the flat floor in the rear passenger area might allow me to slot the pram in front of the kids car seats, leaving the boot free for all the cases.

Anyone like to hazard an informed guess?

Probably. My inlaws have one and we have used it to transport 4 adults plus car seat (daughter was under two at the time). We had two proper suitcases and two large-ish holdalls plus pushchair in the boot. It was only a relatively short journey to the airport and back again but everything fitted.

I think some or most of the hand luggage was by the feet of the passengers and everything else was in the boot.

Thanks mate.

Just to confirm, was yours the standard Berlingo or the Multispace one? We can only get the standard one which I think is smaller.

Standard Berlingo should be big enough. The taxi company I work for has 120 of them on the road and we are constantly asked for them due to the boot size for airport runs, the pushchairs will fit on the floor behind the front seats no problem as I have done this myself a few times myself when my son is in his car seat.

There is a few handy storage compartment also.

I think they're the same size, Citroen just call the 'posher' more car like version the multispace. I've got a Fiat Doblo which is similar and I'm sure you'll have plenty of room, it is after all just a van with windows and seats.

Er, not sure what the difference is! It is a 2004 model and they've updated the Berlingo since. I think the newer one is slightly larger anyway? Their one has five seats and a large boot which is normally filled with gardening stuff.

ETA - This is what theirs looks like:

I used to have a Pug partner (basically the same car) and it managed to cope with three adults, a car seat and a miniture shetland pony in the back (I kid you not, emergency vet treatment). If it can do that a family holiday should be a piece of cake.

Had one in the south of France as a holiday hire car. Two kids and plenty of bags. Cheap bit of kit (and cheap to hire) and was perfect.

I hired one in Majorca a year or two ago and it should easily fit everything you mentioned. Supprisingly it wasn't too bad to drive either!

multispace used to mean the fancy roof mounted internal storage stuff. Is that not still the case?

We've a previous model partner and as said they are very good in terms of space.
