I find myself dreaming of a new motor (old but new to me).

I've had an Alfa GTV Cup for the last 6 months and love its looks, but I find its ride harsh and the wind noise annoying whenever we drive anywhere above 50. It sounds lovely, though a little too noisey when pulling up into the cul-de-sac after a nightshift (its had a performance exhaust fitted) and goes ok, but its not what I would call quick. That said it gets a lot of attention (amazingly as I never thought it would) as it seems that not a lot of people know what they are as you don't tend to see them about much (non petrol heads).

But I'm getting old before mytime (38) and feel that I know want something with a bit more luxury and power. I want something with big comfy heated leather seats, silence at 70 when floating down the motorway, loads of toys and at least as much pace as the GTV when I plant it.

I've been looking at some old Mercs on the net (C36, C43) but not sure how they meet my criteria. I'm lucky enough to work literally less than 5 minutes away, so fuel economy isn't a big issue.

I don't want to spend anymore that £6000 for the right one, preferably £5000.
