What car for 'er in doors, She wants to go out sometimes!
Discussion
The misses wants a newer car, used mainly around town and will not do any great distances, maybe the odd day trip to the coast, 50 miles max.
She is quite fussy so I have a criteria but I'm struggling for idea's
Budget is £4000 max, but the less the better,
Must have:
40k or less miles.
Sunroof
5 Doors
No bigger than 1.6
No crap brands( her words not mine) Skoda, hyundai, kia and the like.
Boot big enough for pushchair and a weeks shopping
Her biggest worry is resale value on say 2 years she does not want end up with something worth 50p down the line.

Yep can't think of any cars that meet this truly though criteria... if only you could buy car mags that had articles about such things She is quite fussy so I have a criteria but I'm struggling for idea's

Really though.. what sort of suggestions are you after? Almost every, no actually every major car maker of mass produced cars makes one or more vehicles that fit perfectly. It's a bit like buying a new fridge freezer. Just pick a colour you like from a shop that isn't too far away. Jobs a good'un

It's a tough ask. I was think Fabia or C'eed. Possibly a previous shape Fiesta but you'll be lucky to find anything that age that has less than 40k miles. You'll probably just increase your chances of picking up a clocked one.I'd buy on condition and service history, rather than low miles when looking at that price range.
Regarding your (her) last point, nothing for £4K is going to hold it's value, and they all end up scrap value eventually.
There might be a couple of makes to consider here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automobile_ma...
Found one!!!

Honda Jazz is the biggest and most versatile (with a sliding rear seat) in the small sector and available for less than £4k though may have to go up to 60k on mileage. Keep heir value too.
Otherwise the Nissan Micra 1.2/1.4 is a good bet especaily as they keep their values but again depends on the size of the pushchair.
The big downside of the Jazz is that some still have a radio-cassette and the plate to convert the dash to a CD orifice is £138 on ebay plus you have to pay for a CD player and fitting. That isn't totally confined to the Jazz so watch out for the "radio-cassette trap" on cars with inbuilt units.
Otherwise it's Fiesta 1.4s which are bigger than the average supermini. I have found 1.25s are more expensive for some obsure reason given the 1.4 is a perfectly good unit.

Thanks for the suggestions,
Not as simple as it seems is it.
The last shape fiesta is just to old in design, the 307 is just two big, She has looked at 207 but resale worries her.
As for the comment on Values, sorry not quoting, that's rubbish, She has a A140 at the moment, and after 15000 miles/ 2 years it's lost about £500 from when we purchased it, I'd say that was Very good. She loves it, but it's getting old and she has a come into a little money so would like to put it to good use. ( she would get another late model but the newer shape is still to expensive with reasonable miles)
