I am just about to start a new contract which means my weekly commute will go from 100 miles to 540 miles. The only car I have now is a civic type R ep3, which is very low mileage for its age and I'd like to keep it that way, and I hate it on motorways, loud and uncomfortable.
So I'd like a car for the commute and keep the civic for the weekends. I'm not hugely bothered by mpg, I just want something comfy. Most importantly I want a car that I look forward to driving 150 miles on a Monday morning. I need something reliable, and is not going to leave me stranded on the A14 regularly.
I’d like to spend less than £4k, but if something for £6k looked really good then so be it.
So far my short list is
Merc CL 500
BMW 840
JAG XK8
Any advice (particularly with using them as a daily for 500+ miles a week) on the cars listed is greatly appreciated as is any other suggestions.
