I've been looking at cars for my mother if she decides to get rid of her current Honda Accord (2.2 iDtec/DTCi Sport). It looks like it fits the bill on paper, and they don't seem to be depreciating all that much but would they be a bit too much for someone who isn't a petrol head. The suspension on her current Accord is pretty firm as is, and I've read that the abarth is quite stiff.

Any thoughts?

The abarth is actually quite soft, not hardcore at all. I'd also consider the vw up.

Is there any reason it has to be an Abarth? Could she not just go for the normal 500?

I would have a good look at a Punto...they are far superior, (maybe not as chic, granted), roomier and cheaper.

All (imho)....Owned both.

Great cars but the 500 twinair is as much fun, believe it or not, and will be peanuts to run. Try one smile
My mum has just ordered a TwinAir Street (coming from a 1.2 500).

Cracking little car.

Loads of fun to drive, looks the part too (in Street spec).
