Hi,

A couple of months ago I bought a new Vauxhall Astra through an Internet broker. It was absolutely clear that I would be the first keeper and says as much on the order paperwork (to get the Vauxhall lifetime warranty).

The broker delivered the car on schedule, and said the V5C would be with me within a few weeks (standard DVLA lead time). He asked me to supply a copy of my insurance certificate for the tax.

After 7 weeks, the V5C had not arrived so I chased up the broker. He said he would 'look into it', then got back to me to say that the V5C was with DVLA to have the address changed (!) and that it would be with me within a few weeks (standard DVLA lead time!)

The V5C has now arrived. It has my correct address, but rather than having my name as the registered keeper, it lists the registered keeper as 'CarSupplier Ltd c/o my name'.

The V5C has the option of sending it in to DVLA have the name corrected (without ticking the box for 'New Keeper' so I will still be the first registered keeper).

Is it as simple as this, or am I missing something?

Thanks

Chris

You can change details without changing the number of keepers but I'm not sure they will allow you to change the name as everyone would do it and never add new keepers.

A but of common sense on the dvlas half wouldnt go a miss in this situation as you are correcting the name, not really changing it, but in experience, the dvla have no common sense and will probably report you to the police for fraud...
