Just Driving for Fun?

Was just wondering how many of us just went for a drive for fun. Bearing in mind fuel cost and so on has this sort of activity diminished? I'd also be interested to hear from those of us who don't have weekend cars but just take our normal cars out for a spin on a boring weekend.
All the timeOnly have 2 miles to work so the rest is for fun!

I usually go for a drive on the back roads at some point over the weekend, often trying to find somewhere to take some landscape or wildlife photos. No planned route, just random, and see where I end up. Then try and find my way home without using a satnav, never failed yet
As my daily commute is 90 miles, a weekend drive doesn't add much to the fuel bill (at least as a percentage...)

Yes, I did this today. I don't very often need to use my car during the week so I usually make sure I go out at weekends - if I don't fancy a long drive there are some nice roads not far from here I go and have a play on. I don't do this as often as I used to though - I used to turn a trip to the local supermarket into a 30+ mile round trip but life got more expensive since then.

I don't get to drive for fun as often as I'd like. But there's always the long way home and no point in driving the same route again and again when you can have such variety.
Just fun

Not any more. I used to about 5 years ago, but cannot justify the cost any longer.
Pretty much this although the urge to go out for the odd razz is too much sometimes.I find if I work away for a week and don't drive the motor I am itching to get in. That's what I like about not using the car as an everyday too, the novelty very rarely wears off.
Threads like this make me think that electric car manufacturers have got the wrong end of the stick. I would think there is a market for a fun to drive electric hoon mobile that you can just unplug and go for a quick blast of an hour or so without worrying about the cost of fuel. It wouldn't need much range or sophistication, just a chuffing great motor. It would probably only need a service every five years or so and could sit unused for long periods of time without having to worry if it would start or what condition all the vital fluids were in.
Maybe an electric '7' or even some kind of super twizy? The Morgan Plus-E seems to be on the right track.
If it was plugged in all the time to a smart meter it could serve as a UPS for the house in the event of power cuts and therefore have some justification when you weren't using it.

Problem is, at current. The people who are in the price range for a performance electric car just don't worry about fuel costs!Maybe an electric '7' or even some kind of super twizy? The Morgan Plus-E seems to be on the right track.

Could be very different in 5+ years though.
