One is for sale near me that needs a little work.
What do we make of them?
I know it makes 64bhp from its 600 something CC.
Apperently it does 0-60 in 8 seconds!! and tops out at a dizzying 84mph
What are they like?
I am tempted, it could be fun and I know I would look F A B driving it!

I had one for a couple of years and was gutted when I sold it. A few bits of brain dumping:
- The posts above are true, they do rust badly. The UK cars weren't rustproofed very well. New floorpans are unavailable, so if that's badly rusted you'd need to repair or fabricate one. Common rust spots are rear arches, sills and floor behind the seats (this rusts from the inside due to the inevitable roof leaks so may be hard to see without pulling the carpet up). Make sure you get one that's been looked after and keep on top of waxoyling it and you'll be fine.
- If you're the right size for them, they're actually incredibly comfortable. I'm a scrawny 5'11" and it was spot on.
- The oil change interval is short (6,000 miles IIRC) but assuming this and other basic maintenance is done, the engines are bullet proof. Mine had 90k miles, did two Euro trips, a 24 blast from Manchester to Paris and back, got redlined daily and never missed a beat.
- They punch well above their weight in terms of daft levels of fun and theatre, but are usable day to day assuming you don't need to carry much (luggage or people). Fit a decent stainless exhaust, knock the cat out and they take on a fantastic sporty note IMO. There's a few vids on YouTube, this was mine… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxhxnMNgpqM
- If the back end goes in the wet, you can catch it, but you need to be quick, the short wheelbase makes them a little snappy.
- They are much, much more fun than MX-5s, if not with quite the same exploitable handling balance
- There's a small but great community on www.clubcappo.co.uk, you'll find a lot of knowledge and help there
- Assorted people in the street with a low IQ will call you a raging homo when they see you driving it
- The standard steering wheel is enormous and needs swapping for something smaller
- Did I mention they're fun?
