Hello, long time lurker/reader, now registered

Hi peeps, thought id finally actually register on here, been on and off for a few years now but it never occured to me to actually sign up!

Im John, im 30 from Hull, i like my vauxhalls and have had a stupid amount of them, cav mk3's and nova's mainly, im firmly stuck in the 90's with my music, mountain bike and car preferences!


Currently have a small collection of 90's Kona mountain bikes (read three and a half) and an '03 Astra 1.6 SXi as a daily, and an '87 Nova 2.0 16v Antibes as a plaything, i hope you guys dont mind nova owners and no, there is no fibreglass in sight on either of my cars and both cars are insured as modified and the nova is logbooked as a C20XE, as im not a naughty boy lol!

Astra bought early 2011 looked like this (high mileage trade in at my old work)

And the nova, bought around similar time, looking like this..







With the addition of this (only broke it as it was dangerously rotten and had a massively bent MOT, welding for MOT consisted of painting seam sealer over the cracks and holes in the bay and painting that smoke grey!!)

Love the Nova, looks very subtle and clean, nicely modified.

Always had a soft sport for the mk4 Astra - had a 1.6 16v SXI (pic in profile) as my first car and I loved it. Was absolutely brilliant when it worked, which unfortunately, was not very often.

Hope you are having better luck with yours, you seem to have transformed it and it looks great!

It means 'mountains' + 'mountain bike' = 'happy' lol



And thankyou for the comments on the nova 'yellow' after seeing some of the motors on here i was a touch nervous about throwing up pics of her, but someones gotta love them!


R.e. the Astra, its now got 199,660 miles on it and im the second owner from new, bought it with a ecu fault which all the 1.6's and 1.8's are prone to, new ecu and chipset from a dealer on eBay and she has been good as, for about 7,000 miles now since march last year!

Wow, that is very good going!

I traded mine in at 80k as either the valve seals or piston rings were going and it was burning a litre of oil every 100 miles. Requited the spark plugs being cleaned every few days!

Had a tonne of other things go on it as well, never mind!

Glad to hear yours is going well, have you had to do much to it besides the ECU?
