Working on the Town Car atm, replacing the lower inlet manifold.

God is scraping gasket sealant a dull job! Is there a better/faster way of getting the sealant off?

Wire brush in a drill or dremel, lightly and it just flicks off.

Spray on gasket remover, then a rub with a wire brush.

A good soaking beforehand helps, doesn't seem to matter what with- GT85 works for me.

Wire brush, especially an electric one, sounds like a pretty effective method of flicking all sorts of crap into the inlet ports to me, there's even a possibility that the steel bristles could come off and get in, doing major damage.

yikes flicks off into ports and the insides of the engine you mean?!!

I have a plastic scraper handle into which clips Stanley-knife type blades.

Used at a shallow angle so as not to dig in and scuff the alloy, it works very well.

Then for the residue, a bit of Scotchbrite abrasive.

Job done - no damage, no bits into the motor.
