I know the vast majority of HGV drivers are decent chaps, but approaching a Polish HGV on the M20 just before Dover on the downward section where the harbour is before you, a hand goes out from the driver's side clutching a white kitchen style bin bag and throws it into the verge, all at 56mph.

The bag catches in the slipstream, goes under the trailer and explodes into tin cans, glass bottles, tissues, newspaper, etc, causing major braking and swerving behind.

I drew alongside and hooted, to be met with a rude gesture.

Give it 8 minutes and he'd be parked up waiting for the boat with bins galore.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Just be thankful it wasn't a 'drivers cider' bottle. The local bypasses are full of them round here, disgusting.

And what would happen? Nothing at all, not worth the effort of even contemplating it.

Not neccesarily.

I reported a DPD driver after he through litter out of his van as I was overtaking him on a dual carriageway. A plastic bottle hit the front bonnet edge of my car, putting a minor dent in ir.

I rang up and complained (not to get the damage fixed. Not worth it) to say that maybe DPD should employ drivers who are more aware that they are essentially setting an example for the company and as such should drive accordingly.

His boss called me up 2 days later to say that it was the second report they have recieved about this driver, and so as a result he got sacked! tt deserved it imo!!

I think DPD have pretty high standard for drivers. I pass their depot in Bristol every day next to the end of the cycle track and despite them being all over the road coming and going, they always give way and signal. Back to the thread, I doubt they would do anything in the next 20 mins he would have been on UK soil, or gone to the effort of stopping him on the way through customs.
