My wife has approved a not too expensive project car purchase. I would like one of these 3 cars because I believe they would all be entertaining on the street and the track when my race car is being repaired (quite often, it turns out).

The Audi and Evo would also make great winter cars, but the BMW could gradually be made into a vintage race car, maybe eventually replacing the Civic.

Any comments?

There was the start of a good thread about getting an E24 for racing the other day but I can't find it.

Why and Evo 1?

it might be the first, but its by no means the best of the Evo range. They didnt really start getting it right until the IV.

There is a weird legal situation in Quebec, Canada. We can import cars from other world markets, but only if they are 15 years old. People had been importing many Japanese RHD vehicles and they were getting a bad reputation. As a result, Quebec passed a law that banned the new registration of RHD vehicles. This happened a couple of years ago. That means that the newest Japanese cars on the road here are from about 1993. As far as Evo's go, that means that the Evo 2 is the newest.

We can legally import Evo 8's and 9's from the USA and the Evo 10 is sold here. Of course, the cost is much, much higher.
