have you actively avoided buying one? if so, then yes its weird. if you just havent found a car that you want that happens to have over 200bhp, then no it isnt. power should never be the deciding factor imo!

I haven't avoided it, per se, that's just the way things have panned out. Only just realised when reading through the power vs torque thread.

Probably the most striking thing is that I've never felt like I've been missing out, despite spending time in some properly powerful cars.

Nope. No problem with that.
One of my old cars only had 135bhp. It did weigh 480kg though.

Current fleet:
Kawasaki GPZ500R - 60 bhp
Pug 205 D - 59 bhp
Lotus Excel - 160bhp (or 0bhp, currently)
Sealine 22 - 170 bhp
Freeman 22 - 45bhp

Me neither.

Most powerful car i've owned would have been around 170hp.

My insurance seems to sky rocket for anything over 150hp so I've generally avoided. No other reason for it. I would love a really powerful car but can't justify the extra expence of insurance/fuel when I have a house and child to pay for.

This is why I've actively avoided turbocharged cars. I like tuning but continually chasing power is like a coke habit, only far, far better for your nasal cavities.

I've topped out at 220bhp. I've driven cars with double that, but the fun/running costs ratio hasn't been high enough for me to want to own anything with more power.

I have owned things which will do 0-60 in 4.something seconds and I've had loads of things which will do silly speeds, so power alone doesn't really matter.

I haven't owned a car over 200bhp either. At the moment, I dont loose sleep over it either.

However, I have had two decent sports bikes and they both had in excess of 120bhp

This. Plus who cares about breaking 200bhp if you can have just as much fun with less hp? I have said it before as its one of the few reference points I have got but I used to have wayyyyyyy more fun than my friend in his 225 Leon Cupra R when I had my mk1 1.8 mx5 and on proper cross country roads he was barely any quicker!

You dont always need big power to enjoy driving or be a petrol head.
