Utterly wonderful GT86 Review.....

I know this was posted in one of the many GT86 threads, but I think it needs one of its own. Not just because its the best review of the car I've seen. But it may well be the best car review I've ever sat down and enjoyed!
Extremely well shot, great in depth detail, as many environments you could possibly want, and most of all a guy who knows what he's talking about, and conveys his enthusiasm and excitement of the product fantastically.
I really wan't a GT86 now! Well worth 20 minutes of your day.

and i like the GT86, when they slap a turbo on it I will try to get the OH to get one
Interesting that he says it has the same qualities as the AE86.
Two things:
1). In 1983 an AE86 with 116bhp was as powerful as the leading hot hatches such as the Golf GTI, the Escort XR3i and the Astra GTE. For that to be the case today, you'd be looking at what? A 300bhp car?
2). I don't ever recall reading a road test at that time that lauded the AE86. If I remember rightly it was launched alongside the fwd Corolla GT(I) which everybody seemed to reckon was a better car.

This car has been talked about at great length on various threads. And rightly so, its a very important car to petrol heads like us. You are listening to someone who has had 4 Mx5's, and is an advocate of cheap, RWD fun cars. If more manufactures made a Toybaru style car the world would be a better place. The above video is by a nice technical review for once. Not one thats been dumbed down for the general public. Is by someone who has had previous incarnations of the brand, and obviously knows what he's talking about. And for a genuine petrol head it gives a great insight into information about how the car drives and behaves that matters to me. But thats fine if you want a Top Gear review... they'll be one soon

Reviews and road-tests are necessary things - you can't test drive every car on the market before making your mind up - you have to short-list somehow.
I think I test drove a little over 30 different models before buying my current car, but that was only a tiny fraction of the total number of potentials.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that's one of the best video reviews of ANY car I've seen in quite some time. Thorough, in-depth, well-researched, well-justified opinions, neither banal or puerile - and achingly-beautiful cinematography with a great soundtrack supporting, not masking, the car's own. Just superb. I appreciate budget/resource limits what other people can do, but this ought to, IMO, be a standard to strive for.

Original AE86 was usually up against stuff like the Manta GTE ( which usually got the nod over the Toyota as an all-rounder ) or stuff like the CRX for its higher limits of ability.
Nice comparison here against its stablemates -> AE86
New one looks a fun car too
