Hello everyone,

I currently drive an E46 M3 and I am looking to change it for a new car in the next couple of months. I looked at the E90 M3 but it doesn't really do it for me. However, after watching youtube videos of the C63 I am considering one just for the exhaust note alone!

What are they like to live with? I've only ever had manual cars in the past so it would be rather strange having an auto although I suppose you do have the flappy paddles to play with. I'm just looking for some owner experiences really. These cars seem like such a bargain now with prices coming down as low as 27K.

Thank you

Sorry, not owned one, but a supplier in Germany has one so I passenger in it once a month going around various sites.

It really is a lovely thing. Hooligan one minute, quiet and sedate mile muncher the next. And seeing it on home turf is deeply impressive - the way it can cover ground and close up gaps to distant traffic is fantastic. In the real world of German daytime autobahns, it's less about long high speed runs; it's all about being able to squirt from 100kph to 200kph and his car is terrific at it.

He has only had it about a year and bought it at 18mths / 14,000 kms, but has said that apart from the fuel bills (he is a company director!) his has been back in once for an fault on the satnav, but apart from that has been faultless. He puts about 2,000km a month on it.

I'd have one in a heart beat if I didn't do so many miles - based on my company mileage allownace it would cost me a bloody fortune!

I feel like I repeat myself with the next sentence but - I used to own an E46 M3 / M3 CSl / E90 M3 and now a C63 Saloon with a performance pack.

In terms of sound, the C63 is out of this world considering it looks like a 4 seater family car.

Day to day and with the auto box, it is very relaxing to drive. But if you want to up the ante, you stick it into manual, engage ESP Sport and maximise the 7 speed gearbox!

You will never get tired of tunnels or starting her up!

The downsides are worse fuel economy, people assuming a harrier jet is appraching everytime you drive to the shops and frequent visits to your local shell garage.

The C63 is the best car I have ever owned as it is also bloody practical.

I've been toying with the idea of getting one in 2-3 years time, when they get cheap enought to have as a 2nd hoon mobile.
What do you think they'll drop to?

Fantastic cars, in comfort they drive like any regular merc at low throttle, in sport they are very responsive changing down gears under braking and blipping the throttle, and in manual they hold the gear no matter what you do. Not quite as good as the latest twin clutch offerings but very impressive.

The engine is a different league to the m3, a monster in sound and performance where the m3 v8 feels normal and a little flat until high rpm.

Try get the lsd, the one I test drove didn't have one and is wasn't quite as playful/alive without it. The performance pack plus is very good also giving more horse power and better brakes, sounds silly at these levels but you really notice the difference above 5k rpm.

All in all a superb car which you won't regret.

Hi, thanks for the replies everyone. What sort of MPG do you get? My daily commute is around 7 miles each way with mixed town/national speed limit roads. Also, what is the difference between Performance pack and no performance pack? Is it just more power?

Thanks,
Andrew

I have a 2012 PPP estate, it is excellent. 18 mpg is my average, I am pretty sure that the MPG for the standard C63 and the PPP are almost identical.

If I have an issue with it, I would say that it is almost too powerful, if you give it the beans at 70 it propels you into 3 figures almost instantly and is hungry for more - it is difficult to use it to its full potential.

The sound alone is truly epic - I was about to start it up the other day when I saw a mother and 3 children approaching, so I waited until they had walked past to avoid startling them. I let them get about a cars length in front of the car and then turned the key ,one of her kids covered her ears and started crying!!

Pop your self down to Mercedes Benz World in Brooklands and have an experience drive. You will love it, I did.
I did find the slush box a bit of a let down, but everything else was great.
Compared to your M3, you will like the steering (more direct), Brakes (more powerful, no fade), more space, nicer interior, great sound.
Go for it if you dont mind the gear box.
