Peugeot/Citroen to Lay-off 8000 Workers
Discussion
It seems that the Euro-zone downturn has hit the mid/small car market worse than thought. So much for President Hollande's great growth idea.

I'd argue that it's less to with the Euro and more to do with the fact they produce shttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/in...
t cars. 15 years ago the 306 outsold everything from Ford to Vauxhall, who the hell's buying 308s now?PSA have had this coming for ages because most of the range (at Peugeot at least, a few Citroéns as well) is absolute rubbish. The 107/C1/Aygo sells well, that's about all the new Peugeots I see. The DS3 has sold quite well, but still not enough to keep them all going.
Hopefully the 208 will sell well too - I've heard they're quite decent for the class, and they look great. If they can shed off the image garnered by the 206/207 and 307/308 then they're winning.

I see plenty about. They are usually driven by people who don't care about cars or driving in general though.

Good riddance to crap cars; hopefully renault will follow suit asap.
You seem happy alot of people are out of work. wow.Anyway... utterly reliable in my experience but thats personal opinion.
As mentioned by somebody above they are 'generaly' driven by people that care little about cars. I believe they drive cars like this is because they are cheap to buy, run, insure and repair.
Because people that dont care about cars buy them then don't maintain them hence alot of these car's are in a sorry state and I think this is why people have a theory that they are crap.
If you didnt maintain any brand of car im pretty sure it would fail aswell.
Just my opinion.
evo posted an article on how most of the mainstream manufacturers are in real trouble with sales down 20-30% this year on an already terrible previous year, Vauxhall and Alfa are also in real trouble
although the Germain's and the luxury brands seam to be ridding it out, i think Audi has just had its best year ever

The 208 does sound promising also the gti version is said to be going back to what thier gti's of old were. It'd be sad to see them go if it came to that.
I think the korean market has made a big dent in thier sales as every year they keep upping thier game.

The vw r32, corrado vr6, polo g60, scirrocco, all great cars. The escort cosworths would piss on a french hatch of that era,
If we're going to be silly, a 911 pisses on an Escort Cosworth of that era. Sure, it was twice the price, in the same way a Cossie was twice that of a hot hatch.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
