Was at work this morning when the Mrs calls to tell me that my car has been hit outside the house. We're not sure if anyone has witnessed it as whoever it was has driven off.
Probably a silly question but other than asking the neighbours if they heard or saw anything I take it I haven't got a leg to stand on and is just one of those things?
Is there any point involving the police?

Only thing you can really do other than ask your neighbours if they saw anything is maybe put a sign up asking for witnesses if the damage is extensive.Another possibility although a longshot is to see if there is any cctv in the area/security cameras on houses that caught anything.

Dont know about the UK, but the same thing happend to me last year, neighbours hadnt noticed anything, no paint left on my car (they hit a plastic part, probably not hard/sharp enough to scrape some of their paint off), police wouldnt even let me report it. buggers.

Found a nice scrape on the lower front bumper on the evoque last night too, not massive damage but still pisses me off. Some lovely people about.

Will check with neighbours later on. I don't think that there is any CCTV about as this is generally a "quiet" residential street but worth a look!
It looks like someone has reversed into it from the photos, haven't seen it myself yet but it doesn't look good.
If it can be popped out then I'll be happy but not sure as it looks like the whole rear quarter panel.

Sorry to hear that. I'm extra pissed off as this is the 3rd time the car has been hit in the last 6 months and not once have I been at fault.
Only had it back from the bodyshop for a month since the last hit

May as well report it to the police - won't do any harm.

I did think that but then wondered if they would get insurance involved? That is something I don't want to happen as only just settled the first claim.

Nah, I can't see why the police would contact your insurer (even if they knew who your insurer was!). I reported damage twice to a TVR I had a few years ago - once they even came round to see it!
