Range on one tank

So, which car has the greatest range on one tank of fuel?

The rules are simple:
MPG calculations taken from the official combined figure
Fuel tank capacity must be either factory standard or a factory option
A gallon is 4.54 litres

I reckon we have to be looking at a largish car with a smallish modern diesel engine, so I kick off with:

BMW F10 520d ED - 62.8mpg over 70l = 967 miles

Anything out there do 1,000+ plus on a tank?

Official mpg is known cobblers isn't it? Better to use real mpg imho. My pug does 650m to a 60 litre tank = 50mpg most fill ups.

Running a new A8 TDi SE Exec & to date my best tankful is 820 miles (think it's an 85 litre tank).

Average MPG over 8K miles is 40.8 & the norm on a run is 45-46.

but the official figures are bks so what your after is what car manufacturer can lie the best ?
My truck, official fuel tank size 70L, real size 75 if you fill whem loaded.
Official combined MPG 45 actual 41MPG
so we have
official bks 693
real 677 mile to a tank
actually that didn't really work did it

~530 miles on 65 liters - best from my not so econo box

~160 miles ~50 liters - 7liter Cerb with initial mapping (but mostly stop start traffic)
