Hi,

Wondering if anybody has any experience of the free 7 day insurance you get when buying a HPI check?

http://www.hpicheck.com/driveaway.html

Just spent an age on the phone to Swinton to check 'eligibility'. After taking all my details they say sorry, you've failed on the free 7 days but do you want a quote for an annual policy?

I knew they would give a hard sell but I expected to at least get the free 7 days out of it.

I used it to pick up my VX220 a couple of months ago and it was fairly painless. I think it was Aviva back then though.

I have used it before when it was Aviva.
I think the conditions are that you have to be 21, the car cannot be older than 10 years.

The T's & C's are on the link given in the OP.

Provided the car you want to buy is a passenger car or light commercial vehicle (up to 3.5T) you can benefit from this special offer. Swinton will send you a 7 day cover note providing evidence of insurance for your new vehicle.

Driveaway cover is available in the UK, including Northern Ireland but not the Channel Islands or Isle of Man. Please note: Under some circumstances a Driveaway policy cannot be offered, e.g. if you are under 21 years old or your car is ten years old or more.

Yeah, quizzed him on what the problem was and he wasn't very forthcoming. Just said it was now with Provident and I must have failed on one of their criteria. I'm pretty standard, just 3 pts to my name, plenty of NCB and what not, nice area, car not too silly.

Anyways, as I've two lots of NCB I did a full quote elsewhere, touch over £400 which I'm very happy with.

edit - Im 31 and the car is a 2004 s-type.
