I have been looking at these Olympic Routes and some allow motorcycles and bicycles and some don't. The cynical would say that this has been done in order to increase confusion and collect millions in massive fines.

I, along with many others, will be working on the Olympics and the Paralympics so how come we can't use these lanes?

It will be mayhem I tell thee.

I drove into town today on the A4 .

A 2 lane section of it has an Olympic lane and a Bus lane.

That'll confuse everybodyconfused

People won't know which to use.

Presumably the Bus lanes will be suspended during the games ????

Carnage,Chaos,Mayhem are 3 descriptions i can think of.

There's already a topic in the Pedal Powered forum, the general consensus seems to be that people will ride in all of them - I'd love to see a copper try and catch me on my bike to hand over said fine with all the traffic that'll be about tongue out

I drive to the city everyday to the office. Usually takes 40 mins but today it took nearly 2 hours. The stinger was that I was on the outer lane with the Olympic lane on the inside and I needed to turn left. You're not allowed to make a left or right turn over these fiascos.

fking joke; and no, I won't get the tube or train!!

So it would have been no thread if you were allowed to use them? Basically get over it and be proud

I noticed that the fat white lines that mark the Olympic routes are not painted on but seem to be some sort of heavy duty, durable sticky tape. Down York Road in Battersea someone had large sections of the white line away last night and it was being replaced early this morning. Word will soon get round.....!

hehe

And to the poster above asking me to get over it, NO! us motorists are butt feked by the the authorities all the time and now this. We have all paid for the Olympics, a lot of money when things are really tight and personally I have no interest in them and now we have to sit in traffic whilst a few sportsmen/women are allowed to swan by to the stadium.

Tell them to get up earlier to avoid the congestion.

I used to work for the company that developed the marking. If it's heated with a steam washing thingy it can be lifted off by hand...

So does this mean it will be a nightmare for motorcycle tyres in the wet. I might try a controlled 'off' and get a claim in biggrin

So basically I am paying you to work on the Olympics then ? Go and have a word with yourself and maybe appreciate being able to put food on the table because of the games

Or are you just moaning for the sake of it ?

I'm not sure the folks who relieved York Road of their Olympic lane used a steam thingy, but it can certainly be removed; food for thought as they are hated.

I can see the videos soon to be arriving on YouTube now....!

Olympics have taken away most of my usual work this summer but I have picked up a very little recompence by working on the Paras, not paid for by you and I'm moaning 'cos I want to tongue out

In fact the whole cock up with security, accreditation and travel is so bad that many of my work mates have decided either to go on holiday or take lower paid work elsewhere rather than go anywhere near E15 for the summer.

This country is bankrupt and we are all being told to watch our budgets yet millions are being wasted. Gets my back up but if it doesn't yours, you are lucky, so go enjoy biggrin
