Surely all this monochromatic nonsense is done by now, just I saw an Audi A5 in bright, unapologetic Dogs Dick red and it looked fantastic. Is bright red due a comeback ?

How did Audi let that one slip by, must be against company policy ?

"Bright anything" would do.

Can't stand the current fad for black/grey/silver/white. Awful colours.

No cost solid option on the new Upiigo (just made that one up), I reckon you'll start seeing a few.

Is solid white now a cost option, see so many premium cars with it on I cant imagine that the car manufacturers will let you have something you want for free, usually if you don't pay extra they will smear it in Magnolia or something just to tell you what a cheapskate you are.

For many manufacturers, solid white is the only non-cost colour option.

Does the red pigment in car paint still fade. Some relatively new red cars look awful when they've turned pink. Shocking to see Corsas and Astras with varying shades of red on their panels.

I like red though smile

Think the "WhiteDogTurdification" process is down to manufacturers using a solid red paint, i.e. not a base plus clearcoat which seems to protect the red pigment, also down to owners not polishing, I may get one of my cars done in a post ironic Vauxhall pink wrap for the nostalgia value.

No. Here's a proper red car currently for sale in the PH classifieds - Corvette in torch red.

I got a new VW a couple of months ago. The only no-cost paint options were white, red and grey. I wanted black, so I had to pay extra.

I don't know what the present situation is, but when I ordered a new A4 S-line it only came in red or black. All other colours were £500 extra. So maybe the A5 you saw was in the "as-it-comes" shade.

Totally agree can't understand undercoat grey! I think certain car look wrong in red. I didn't think red actual went out.

A quick look on the Audi site shows red is a no cost option for "Brilliant Red", but the striking looking red I think I saw was probably "Misano Red Pearl" at £615, so they do dowdy red or nice shiny red but you have to pay extra, knew there would be a catch !

Our works leasing company insists that all cars are purchased in a metallic colour, for resale, hence the legions of grey cars in the car park.
