Don't get me wrong I ride a bike on the road, but I am so sick of cyclists with Ipods & without a clue of the highway code. It's usually young kids. Oh and no crash hat usually.

Nearly took one out this morning as I reversed into a parking bay. Only reason I stopped was because the parking sensors suddenly went off. There I am reversing in before she gets to me, so what in her thought process suggests that it might be good idea to ride behind me while I'm moving??

What do I get? Scuffed bumper and not so much as a sorry.

I pity the poor sod who might be involved in serious accident with this young girl because she had her head up her backside. I wouldn't wish it on anyone least of all a chid, not for a moment, but you can see it coming.

This is an all too common event these days, and they're not held accountable or obligated in any way.

Rant over, have a nice day.

You get idiots not paying attention to their surroundings everywhere. Their mode of transport is largely irrelevant.

I believe the OP demonstrated this by reversing into a parking space without looking properly

Is it that time again already? Perhaps the mods could sticky a permanent ranting about cyclists thread?

Can't say I'm pro ph memes, but I wouldn't mind one iota if this became the stock response to any rant against cyclists, pedestrians, horse/donkey/zebra rider.

Morons in cars, morons on bikes. They all do idiotic things, the difference is the cyclists are more squishy so most drivers are more worried about where they are and what they're doing. If a minicab jumps a light and smashes into you it's annoying, if a cyclist goes under your wheels it'll change your life. Same level of idiocy.

Try driving in London, you'll either have a massive brain haemorrhage or learn to ignore it unless it directly affects you.

priceless, the OP makes a sweeping generalisation about cyclists based on one teenager riding along without a helmet listening to an ipod not paying attention to the road, whilst in the same paragraph acknowledges that he was only aware of said cyclists presence becuase of the parking sensor!

I must say - I'm a cyclist (in fact, I'm posting this while dressed in Lycra), and I also like fast cars.

However, OP is correct for a large sub section of cyclists. But, as someone else above said, you get fkwits in all walks of life - what they're riding/driving/flying/sailing at the time is neither here nor there.

Shame, really.

If the first time you are aware of a person passing your car is a sensor going off then you should be taken off the road.

Perhaps try use of eyes next time.

5 internet points says the OP has just moved to London or Cambridge... hehe places where Darwin seems to look the other way whenever someone straddles a bike. Quite heartbreaking when the opposite occurs - someone who's taken an interest in good cycling practice ends up squished by some dozy bint in an X5 when idiots seem free to roam. If I was right, welcome to commuting hell OP smile

Oh and BOR's reply... rofl brilliant work sir bow.

set up cameras in front and rear. Use as evidence in case you do run over a tt who decides to play an asshole when you reverse into a spot etc

He was aware of them - he just did the common sense thing of thinking that they aren't going to be that stupid...
