I would imagine yes to both. Although someone will be along soon to say that undertaking doesn't exist.

I've not heard of anyone being done for passing on the left. Then again I don't think it happens anywhere near as much as other motoring offenses which catch the laws eye. I strongly suspect that if the police saw you do this, they would pull you rather than the driver hogging the middle lane.

I think the trick is to sit behind the hogger for a while and if they have no intention of moving, pull in and slowly pass then indicate and pull out again. I expect any aggressive manouver will be dealt with by death if the police spot you.

People who undertake should be shot and eaten. It's the height of arrogance.

And sitting in the outside lane at 70mph with nothing in lanes one and two isn't?

how about this

car A sits in the middle lane doing 60mph

car B overtakes and pulls back in infront of car A in the middle lane

car B then gradually slows down to 45mph (still legal)

car A then overtakes in the third lane at 45mph whilst having cars come up behind them at double their speed car B puts his foot down and leaves car A there in the outside lane

I think if you were in car A this would be enough to scare you into driving in the left lane at all times unless overtaking

OK, but only if you promise to make it a clean headshot and serve me medium rare, with a nice beaujolais.

Life's too short for me to get het up about people in front not making progress. If I can go around them, I will.

Better tell my uncle to stop burying people, might get smelly though!!
As for passing on the left I do it all the time and I've never killed a kitten doing it yet!! Made great progress on M8 though due to lane 2 and 3 full of numpties like you day dreaming your sad little life's away.

a few years back i was pulled on my 125 motorbike for speeding, undertaking an ambulance, not displaying a front L plate and not displaying a tax disc. the officer, rightly so, made me feel exactly like the big dick that i was, and remarkably let me off without a ticket!

after that, ive certainly changed my driving/riding!

That's the problem. Lane discipline can be lacking. I've undertaken, usually already sat in lane 1 when there's a queue of traffic sloooowing down in lane 3. Trick is to not make it obvious by switching across two lanes as all the brake lights go onhehe
Those seen weaving in and out of three lanes of traffic to get to that all-important paperclip sales presentation 30 seconds earlier should indeed be shot. Perhaps not eaten though - those big-knotted ties could be bad for one's indigestion.

Everyday, driving home down the A90 I get stuck behind 'people' who insist on sitting in the outside lane at 65mph when the inside lane is perfectly clear. To say it is frustrating is an understatement. People appear to have no idea when it comes to lane discipline.

If there is space on the inside lane and the middle/outside lane are travelling slower than I am, then I just stay in the inside lane.

I do not consider this over/undertaking as I am not changing lanes to execute the manouver.

What a copper might think is a different matter but I would be happy to discuss it with him.
