On the whole wheel topic, it got me thinking, I've never actually owned anything that runs bigger than 16" rims. Am I the only one?

In 5 years and 3 cars I've had:

Pug 206 - 14" (175/55)
Vauxhall Astra Sporthatch - 17" (225/45)
BMW 335i - 19" (235/35 or 265/30) - Non Run Flat

I would say that by far the best ride was had on the astra's 17" alloys, as in balance v comfort...

Largest I had was 17s on a E36. It came with them, looked good, left them on. I wouldn't bother with aftermarket wheels normally.
Currently have 15s on my accord. They are standard and suit the car.

You are not alone!

Biggest wheels I've ever had were 17 inch jobs which I fitted to my XR4x4; they looked good but the turning circle was pathetic... turning right at tight junctions meant I had to take a couple of goes at it, much to the amusement of other road users!

Got 16s now and all is well.

I've actually fitted SMALLER rims to my Volvo Amazon (14 inch as opposed to the standard 15s) as I've been searching for 3 years and only ever found one set that would fit (14 inch Cragar steels).

Oh, for a set of 15 inch slotmags! cloud9

Nope - both my 9000 and 900 run 16"s (15 in winter) which was the largest size available as standard. Any bigger would ruin the ride. All my other cars have been on 15" wheels or my first which was 14 I think.

Cheaper tyres, better ride.

Smallest were 10" on my Minis back in the day, largest are the 18's which came fitted on my 996. Had most sizes in between except 11" or 12" I think.

Had everything from 13-18, from Pug 205 to Leon Cupra.

Currently looking in to a car with 19" wheels, but tyre costs putting me off.
