All this compensation for whiplash and the like genuinely makes my blood boil.

There are a select minority who will deserve a good deal of compensation for accidents which were genuinely not their fault who have too much dignity to try claim anything

Great news! smile Wonder what charity she's donating the £20k to?

"However, she said her sore back now affected her ability to take part in charity events"

Would people at charity events give a toss if she turned up in flatter shoes especially as she has a back problem after a horrific, traumatic, debilitating accident?

No. No, they wouldn't.

Don't know the particulars of the case. But it's trial by opinion here. So, quite aptly, I will obviously be biased on headlines, and stick my neck out to suggest 'ageing judge fell for leggy stunnah beauty sob story'.

Compensation fine, not a problem with that but 18k? Bit much!

Needs to be payout caps and insurance needs to be controlled or the more people walking away with 18k for lower back pain will result in even higher premiums then we already have.

Crash for cash
Whiplash
Fraud
Accident Management firms
Legal costs
Hire cars
Made up injuries
Uninsured drivers

The above is sending insurance through the roof even more

"This is not the conduct of a malingerer or someone who is seeking to secure the most compensation”
Gordon Reid QC
Court of Session in Edinburgh

Sure about that are you?

"She was later diagnosed with chronic low back pain."

That's a pretty naff diagnosis!

"She knows she can wear high heels but will suffer the next day for doing so. It seems to me that rather than being criticised she should be commended for her efforts."

Erm, SWMBO suffers the day after a night out wearing heels. Can we have £18,000 please?

I wonder how a facebook group asking her to donate her £20k to the charities shes unable to help with might work out?

She got £10,000 for the injury, the rest were other claims ( loss of earnings etc)

Bit of a non-story I think.

You don't know the circumstances. She could have pulled out, from lane 1 to lane 2, at the correct appropriate distance from a vehicle in lane 1 BUT then a knobber was going at "run from the police" type speeds and went for an "undertaking gap" which simply wasn't there.

You're jumping to conclusions a bit there.

ETA - I assumed you were blaming her driving for being in a position where a pass on the left was on, but you might be having a go at the journalist using a commonly used phrase which most people understand the meaning of, but you dislike?
