I changed my pads/discs and did 150-200 miles on them but wasn't quite happy as I feel the rear brake pads are touching the disc and making a noise. I got some miles in to see if it would go away but hasn't so I'm retrying the final adjustments. Car is an MX-5 mk2.

Here's the question: when you fit pads, do you push the caliper right in so that the brake pads are touching the disc? If so, how long does it take for the pads to settle in so that they are not constantly touching the disc?

Cheers.

There's no springs to pull them away from the disc, only the slight distortion of the seal which will retract them (at a guess) less than one-tenth of a millimetre. Ergo, they will always be close to, or touching, the disc.

If they're making a noise try filing a slight chamfer on the edges of the pads.
