Yaas another what car thread.
Discussion
Now chaps/esses bear with me.
I have never tried a what car thread so here goes.
We are looking to sell sometime soonish our long standing 140 thousand mile type r Civic 03 plate.
What i'm looking for is something that's reliable , very well screwed together , fun , rawish? and as for a commute to Edinburgh airport pretty frugal.
The shortlist , now remember i have to compromise with her indoors , so no scoobies or mistsi ashi as there not so good on the fuel.
Oh budget 12 to 16 grand.
I like the Seat Leon cupra , Focus St and possibly an Audi S3 .
My other half likes the Audi A1 which is nice but......
Any help would be appreciated , i'm looking for something other than the obvious.

You've mentioned fuel a couple of times... and at the risk of starting a flame war - how about a 330d?
I have a Focus ST, and frugal it is not... I get like 18-20MPG. Spose 99% of my driving is in the town though!
Cupra and S3 will have the same engines in, but just different states of tune IIRC? Even moderate use of the turbo will destroy your economy.
What about a boggo Golf GTI 200BHP if it has to be hot hatch - Still rapid and probably the most frugal out of the VAG 2.0T.
A bit more out there... What about the new 1.4 twincharged engines that are in the Skoda Fabia vRS - 184BHP?
