How bad is the 2002-2005 Range Rover for repairs

Much as I'd love to I can't afford the TDV8 so it's a choice of auto TD6 diesel or V8 petrol.

With about 25mpg combined and Diesel costing a tiny bit more than Petrol, and insurance being cheap for some reason (£600 fully comp aged 30) along with Tax at £270.00 a year in band K it almost starts to make sense for the basics but with that air suspension and the compressor replacement for example every 4 years I'm budgeting about £500 a year in extra costs assuming the gearbox holds up.
Warranty companies are asking around £1.5K for 24 months complete coverage as it's over 100K or the one I buy will be; which is steep I think assuming the individual claims are limited to £750 as it's higher mileage.
So apart from accepting these big cars carry a risk and need cash on a regular basis and from my understaning they carry a load of BMW electrics and of course the engines themselves how bad can it be to get a high mileage Vogue in Green for under £10K? The ride alone along with the interior just makes the V8 seem a bit pointless in this mobile armchair.
