Right, may be just me thinking this is wrong, but here goes...

Wife orders item from an Internet shop, they send it out via City -Link.
To cut a not overly long story short, I had issues with it not being delivered, CL saying they tried but never left a card to say so, me getting in touch with vendor etc...

Today, I receive an email from the vendor showing my house with my BMW parked on the drive, that CL driver took with his phone to prove he was there!

In the light of all these BMW's being nicked, and considering I live in a small rural village well off the beaten track ( so feeling rather smugly secure - car cant be seen easily from the road), should I feel a little put out that someone's taken a pic of a nice shiny car that can be easily nicked at its residing location?

I'm not particularly worried (yet) but not sure if this is something these couriers should be doing.

What says you?

Edit - wtf happened to the title!? Wasn't like that when I typed it...MODS!

Surely it would only be a problem if they were then publishing the photo and your address??

And in any event, Googlemaps streetview probably shows it and thousands of others around the country.

Buy a crooklock and don't worry about it.

Is it on the internet for all to see?

Nope it's on a drivers City Link PC. Not worth getting upset over IMO.

If I wanted to find a BMW to nick, I'd fire up ebay, autotrader or go to nearest bit of town.

Best thing to do is sell the car, divorce your wife, kill the courier burn your house down and then sue city link for mental stress

All sorts of people from delivery drivers to rubbish collectors use digital photos these days, it's one of the easiest ways of avoiding arguments. There is no legal reason why they shouldn't do it and from a practical perspective it's very useful

Um I can't see the problem, anyone can go upto your house and take a photo.

It doesn't mean they are going to steal your car!

Wahey, a top answer!

Ta.

I'm not getting upset you muppets, it's just that it appeared strange, thats all. smile

As for Google street view, my village has only just been included and you can't see my drive anyway.

Appreciate your time taken answering, cheers.

In my last job i used to deal with a number of couriers on a daily basis dealing with the delivery of flooring/furniture, etc, via some of the usual big name DIY outlets. I remember that some of the couriers used to tell the driver to get a photo of either the front of the house, or something clearly identifiable such as a car, visible garden ornament, etc, that could prove the driver attempted the delivery, as we used to get numerous calls from people claiming they'd stayed in all day for a delivery and it never arrived.

It was amazing how many people who'd stated they'd been in at the time the delivery was attempted actually weren't and withdrew their complaint when we stated we could show a picture which was time stamped showing when the delivery was attempted and there was no answer at the property.

So if I'm getting this right.

1. You accuse CityLink of not delivering a parcel to you.
2. CityLink prove that they did attempt to deliver a parcel to you.
3. You decided that the driver might be in league with hardened car criminals.

Funnily enough, someone was in all day on the day in question.

Not the first time it's happened, but usually with Yodel.

Nope.

A photo taken out of a van window doesn't prove they tried to deliver it, it proves they were there (see my previous post).

It's a moot point now, as it's given me an excuse to go for a drive and pick it up from the depot. thumbup

Watch out

Someone might see your car and try to steal it
