sub £1500 car for broke OH
Discussion
Hi Pistonheads,
The Other Half needs a replacement car as the sills are rusted to hell and it will fail its next MOT. Its fixabl but she wants something different
So requirements:
Less than £1500
Engine bigger than 1.25
3 Door
Cheap to run tax and insure
Must be able to last 2-5 years
She wants a puma but I would like other opinions.

Why not a Puma? Just watch for rust and make sure the cambelt has been done. The Other Half needs a replacement car as the sills are rusted to hell and it will fail its next MOT. Its fixabl but she wants something different

Very cheap to run, reliable in my experience and surprisingly good to drive with plenty guts for a 1400cc.
Dare I suggest an MG ZR?

She says boy racer car, sorry! I wanted her to get a Alpha 147, but she wont have one of them as the number plate on the front isnt central......Dare I suggest an MG ZR?

I love Pumas, thats where she got the idea from. was really looking for a few sideball ideas to chuck her way.
Is she good at making decisions, or will giving her too much choice just mean she'll get flustered and end up with something she doesn't want. The Puma is a good car no matter how you slice it. My advice would be, if that's what she wants, go look at one and get to sit and drive it. If she still likes it, just buy the best you can for your budget.

Ok thought it was quite a lot of car for the money with low miles and relatively new :-)I also had a look through the Alfa 147's, those little 1.6 ones go quite well I hear, couldn't the number plate issue be solved somehow

Think nothing of it, my pleasure.
ETA: The above was an example, you could of course have plenty of change for £1500.
