Specifically like this:

http://www.nomad-direct.co.uk/index.php/products/n...

Where I live I don't have the facility to wash my car, and my lock-up has neither power or water. Currently paying £4-6 depending on whether I go to the jet wash or to the hand car wash, taking care of two cars.. I think this would pay for itself within a year.

On the surface this looks absolutely ideal but is a fair cost and I'd rather not take a gamble on one without some positive comments.

Anyone got one? How have you got on with it? smile

Cheers.

Luke.

From my experience, pressure washers are absolutely useless at washing cars. All they do is move the dirt around.

Er thanks.

Pressure washers work just fine in my experience at loosening the dirt - you then hand wash, pressure wash off the soap / muck and then hand dry. Don't see how else you'd wash a car to be honest.

So - anyone got one of these? I'm not expecting anything like home / water mains pressure washing - just want to know if it's any good at all?

Cheers.

Looks like a nice piece of kit, I have a cheaper portable washer that plugs into the car cig lighter, it sucks its water either from a bucket or a large bottle.

It was £50 online from somewhere, does the job perfectly and not had any problems so this one should be even better.

I have to say I've pressure-washed a car and when dry, there it still was, the same dirt.

I hand wash the car and then use a normal "curly" hose which can pump sufficient pressure through the multi-spray attachment to do the rinsing. I have a pressure washer but have never had the urge to p*ss round getting it out to wash a car.

The purpose of this is because I have no running water OR electricity at the place I can wash my car.. hence needing a portable device into which I can put water and then put it out under pressure.

I wasn't intending for it to be a debate on the merits of pressure washers.. I just want to know if anyone has one of these or has tried them smile

hehe Don't you just hate it when people don't answer your questions and take your thread off-topic?

You will note all of the above are portable devices which pressurise water

I do indeed note that but it's irrelevant to the thread. The OP specifically wants to hear from people that have used the Nomad one he's been asking about. As per his recent response, he's not interested in the merits of other non-Nomad models. He does make that quite clear too, imho... smile

This looks a lot like ones we used to sell. Although I have never heard of this make they are not pressure washers. They are better described as portable water sprays as the water they hold is ideal for rinsing a car but you would need to wash it first. It is nothing like a pressure washer in the power or dirt blasting ability.

Actually I'm fairly interested in hearing about other competing products - I just didn't want a debate whether pressure washers in general were a good idea! smile

The £190 petrol powered one is appealing.. the only problem is I'd need a fair amount of water at my remote location to make decent use of it so I think something a bit lower pressure is a better idea. Sadly.

What is this Google of which you speak?

Yes - and thanks. I know full well how to use Google. I just thought rather than trawling around I would try and draw on the collective experience of PH!
