Sorry for this guys, the search function is broke again. I'm sure this has probably already been done.

Mate of mine is after a 3 series coupe or an A5. Test driven an A5 2.0Tdi Quat and it was just too slow. ALso test driven a 335d which i though was truely amazing but my mates not convinced.

We're now looking at 2.7 or a 3.0 tdi A5s.

Anyone got any experiance of both of these cars? I'm leaning towards BMW but my mate seems more and more set on an Audi.

Your opinions greatly welcomed.

I can't comment on the A5 but I tested a few E90/E92's when buying mine. Even the boggo 330i was an impressive machine. I went for the mSport model as it was a lot sharper.

I did a comparison in an A4 (OK so a different car to the A5) and it was a perfectly capable hack but was more of an appliance. It wasn't fun at all. I wonder if the A5 is more about the looks than the driving experience but like I say, that's based on presumption not experience.

It depends on what is important to your mate. If he's not into driving thrills and just wants a comfortable nice looking car, he may prefer the Audi.

3.0tdi is a great engine. The 2.7tdi is an older block and (IIRC) tends to be multitronic rather than tiptronic. The tiptronic 6 speed is a fine box, mated to the 3.0tdi it's a very competent combination.

I think the 335 is more fun, a harder ride and better on the twisty stuff.

The A5 is a fantastic A-road/motorway cruiser and will eat continents for breakfast.

He does prefer the inside of the A5. Says its more modern (the 335 has nav pro and i drive).

Would it be a good assuption the the 2.7 is prehaps one to aviod?

there is a 330 that we could look at as well. Are they anywhere close to a 335?

And a Very nice A5 with B&O and Sytner Leeds. I have to admit it does look very nice.

It'll be parked off the road. But not in a garage. Are there a large number of cars going missing this way? Assumed it was fairly isolated to an assumed very professional set of car tea leafs.

I tried both and went with a 335d and I've never regretted it - much nicer to drive.
