Appart from Lambos, R8s and classic italians, what affordable cars can (or could not many years ago) be had with a gated shifter?

This is a gated shifter btw:

I was ruling those out as being an exotic and expensive to maintain.

I want to now if there are any affordable cars with them, or are they just for high end sportscars?

Can't you just buy them and retro fit. I'm sure i've seen them for TT's, MR2's etc.

Never noticed it before but the nasty black plastic switch gear in the pic looks pretty stty for a supercar.

Gated shifter sounds horribly American too,is there a better term for it?

Cant think of any normalish production cars that had such things, anything from TVR maybe?

Otherwise I presume Spykers had them but far from affordable yet I guess but got to have the best 1920s comic book interiors around imho.

I think they're pretty "vomit" even on cars they're OEM on, to be honest. Horrifically tacky looking things, and decidedly impractical.

Manual air conditioning? Good god! wink

On another note, I love gated shifters. Especially the click clack noise smile

Just think of all the things you could drop in there by accident

Brilliant!

Gated shifts are cool because they are in a Ferrari, that's it. I hate to imagine the amount of crap i'd drop down one.

I went to buy a 360, drove beautifully but.......... the plastic switchgear looked ste, the fuel gauge identical to the one in my brothers Toyota celica- I hated it everytime I looked down at the dash. I ended up buying something else.

Volvo did the "space ball" as an option - not gated but kind of similar... Sort of ....ish.....
