Landrover Discovery squealing and rev counter not working
Discussion
Hi,
I've got a problem with my Land Rover Discovery 200TDI (1994).
The problem is that there is a squealing noise at low speeds/when the engine is idling, this is allied to the fact that rev counter will not move off zero until the engine gets to about 2000 revs at which point the rev counter jumps straight up to 2000 and then appears to work correctly (even below 2000 revs) until the needle drops back to zero e.g. at traffic lights at which point it stops working again.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Gareth

Loose fanbelt. Rev counter is driven from the alternator. This is basic stuff though, you may wish to consider your choice of vehicle.I've got a problem with my Land Rover Discovery 200TDI (1994).
