My sister car is a insurance write off and theres still 3/4 petrol left in there?

Thanks,

You could disconnect the fuel return pipe and locate it into an appropriate container and run the engine at idle.

On a Toyota Corolla I had, I lifted the rear seat and took out the fuel gauge sender and then siphoned it out.

Take the tank out, but first of all ask yourself if it's really worth it?

Depends how much the car is worth I guess.. If it's written off for 200 quid, and theres 40 quid of fuel in there, you've got nearly a 1/4 of the value..

Just pondering... if it's a write-off, doesn't that mean it now belongs to the insurance company, so if you took the petrol out it'd be theft? I have no idea, just asking smile

On my lads 306 dt i disconnected both fuel lines under the bonnet and connected a small compressor to the return and blew the fuel out of the flow pipe ,worked a treat .

Fuel transfer pump (£15) or a bit of hose and lot of sucking.

I wonder how many pages this will reach before the OP replies!

1) Open fuel filler

2) Place bucket on floor under fuel filler

3) Bend at the knees

4) tilt car

Get screwdriver, washing up bowl and another car. Jam screwdriver vertically under tank. Jump on back of car so that screwdriver punctures tank. Collect fuel in bowl and pour into other car's tank.

Some people do this several times a week - apparently.
