Very dull question I know, but I currently drive a 530d, thinking about changing to an E46 M3, but I do on average 500 miles a week just to get to work & back, but it is almost all motorway work. I am averaging 39.7 in the 530 doing between 80/90Mph most of the time, just trying to work out if it is going to cost a massive amount more even after the deisel/petrol fuel cost split frown

My trip computer is showing 25mpg and I don't think I've reset it for a few thousand miles. I think it was showing average speed in that time around 38mph. That's majority motorway with a few short trips to work this month outside of rush hour.

When I'm just bumbling along at 80mpg on the motorway, it will return low 30's (non sport mode). When I'm in the mood though, 22mpg is more the norm.

Just over 27 mpg normally, thats a mixture of roads on the commute with the odd spirited drive
thrown in. But since Le Mans I am averaging just over 30mpg, that includes the drive down and back, but
if you drive them at the same speed as other traffic low 30's high 20's is possible.

When I had mine it averaged 24mpg. My commute was mainly A or B roads and a bit of dual carriageway. When I used to do short trips out at lunchtime and sit in traffic etc, the mpg dropped to around 17. Conversely, if you can be bothered to sit on a motorway at 60ish, it can do around 36mpg. I managed this just the once before resuming normal BMW etiquette of speeding up and driving in the outside lane whereupon it would average around 29mpg. wink

Mine is currently 19.7

I have averaged 20.8 since i got the car a year ago.

Its generally because i do very short journeys during the week, then at the weekend i play. Hense why its so low!
When i do use it for the commute i.e stuck in traffic and M roads, it will sit around 29-30.
