Have E46 330 ci's starting going up in value?
Discussion
I suspect what happens is the grotty ones have now begun to die and are therefore less likely to fester at the bottom of the market waiting for somebody to buy one, fit Linglongs and Ebay tat and tell everyone its proper wicked. As the aforementioned people have already killed many of the cheap ones.
So the nice ones dont go up in price, they just no longer have a collection of dross making them look expensive.

I picked up a 2002 with 97k on the clock from a trader in February for £3900 (including 6 months tax).
It had a few common E46 coupe issues (sagging door trims, heater/blower resistor faulty) - most of which I've fixed cheaply myself, I think it's a fundamentally a decent car, but is 10 years old now. And it often reminds me of this (airbag warning light is currently on - waiting for my eBay purchased diagnostics cable to arrive to sort that out... I hope!)
With £4k to spend you're likely to be buying one of a similar age to mine, and you're probably not going to find a perfect one. Even if it looks perfect, big bills could be just around the corner (rust, suspension refreshes, cooling system work). Not a car to buy without your eyes fully open.
Having said that, I love mine :-)
