Anyone heard of Maxxis tyres?

MA Z1 Victra in particular. Are they going to throw me through a hedge backwards in flames or are they ok for a budget brand?

I think they sponsor Japspeed the drifting team, also Maxxis seem very involved in the Jap scene.

I've seen this on my limited internet research. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing that they are used by the drifting guys. At least they've got a reputation whether it's good or bad, I'm not so sure...

Mate had them on a Golf once and they'd scream on corners I hadn't heard make noise before.

No idea of the grip though, never used them myself.

Bought a cheap car with them on before. Not great but they aint going to kill you, unless you try that is

I have MA Z1's on my puma, rears have done nearly 30k fronts were changed due to a tracking issue causing uneven wear. I may not be the person to get the best out of a set of tyres but they've never come unstuck. Good wet and dry grip but left me stranded for a week when we had heavy snow. Once I dug the car out and got off the drive they were ok though.
I think they do a drift version of the maz1's, I'm sure I saw them listed as such on their website along side the normal ones. I don't they are all drift tyres.

I've got Maxxis on a Chimaera I bought late last year.
They seem OK although the fronts are the wrong size.
I looked into them because of the need to change the fronts and the write up was OK on grip etc.

I had some on my Porsche 94 turbo. They were very good in the dry but a little twitchy in the wet.
Not a bad tyre if cost is an issue. It was for me at the point i put them on my 944.

They're one of the better budgets, and seem to get fairly consistent reviews:

But Nankang, Kleber, Semiprit, Sava etc all beat them.

admittedly this was about 7-8 years ago but they came on a 200sx i bought. one of the first mods i done on that car was turn the boost up. after doing that i went out for a drive and saw a friend at some lights in an evo. lights go green, we go for it, i slam it into second gear and end up 30 degrees sideways facing the evo.

we both let off after that.

personally wouldnt touch them again.

A cut above proper budgets like Wanli, ArrowStar etc but for the cash I'd probably go down the Kumho or Falken route tbh.

Did a bit of research as above and they seem to score highest of the budget tyres and higher than my current Falken 452 but loads cheaper and hopefully better

Not bothered about cold performance as I have winters for that

They're on the vRS I recently bought. They seem to grip well but generate LOADS of roadnoise!

Fine in the dry, a bit lively when wet to say the least.

Had them on my old Passat estate and they were fine, no dramas at all. Great budget tyre in my experience.

Had them on a motorbike I bought to repair/sell on and was extremely dubious about them to be honest. I was going to change them after the Mot but as they were nearly new left them on for the test. I rode it to the test and was most impressed with them. Gripped well, gave good feedback and were totally predictable.

I left them on the bike when I sold it to a mate and he had nothing but praise for the tyres.... the bike was a different matter
