And if it is, which side of the car will it fit on? Drivers side or passenger side?

Cheers

I think it's non-directional, but I'm not certain.

It would seem so. Look at the picture on their website to see how it should be mounted.

It looks asymmetric, so will have an outside and an inside rather than direction. The website link doesn't seem to say either way.

ETA this bit suggests I'm right http://www.marshaltyre.co.uk/design.php

Part worn? Totally worn more like, it's down to the wear bars!

4-5mm tread? eBay millimetres must be different to everyone else's.

Directional tyres aren't "sided" anyway, it just depends on what way they're fitted to the rim. It'll fit any side, whether it's directional or not...

Thanks for that, so from the pictures on marshal website would you agree that this tyre is for the passenger side of the car?

i agree that tyre is dogst.

4-5mm maybe at the edges, but in the centre theres nothing left!

it will be on the canvas in a very short period of time.. and you will be in a hedge if it rains!

Do you reckon? I was hoping the advert was accurate. Ive got about that much tread left on my other tyre and wanted to replace my punctured tyre with a part worn until I get round to replacing the pair with new.

Can you see the picture? The tread is clearly at the wear bars across the whole of the tyre. Which means it's 1.6mm, 2mm at most. The guy is sniffing glue if he thinks it's 4-5mm.

My tyre size is 195 45 16 and literally nowhere local has this tyre size in part worn. Its only a slow puncture so looks like I'll carry on pumping up the tyre once a week.

On topic with the "directional", "asymetric" thing. I understand that if its directional, aslong as it is pointing the right way it can go on any side. But can asymetric tyres go on any side aslong as it has the outside and inside the correct way round, (i.e tread direction doesn't matter)?

You can't really tell from a picture by looking at the top of the tyre but looking around the tread, at the sides it looks reasonable.

I've taken leased cars to tyre fitters, with the tread worn flush to tread wear indicators, and they've still measured them at 3mm - at which point the lease company won't authorise replacement.

Have you checked whether you can get the existing tyre "plugged"?

Yes they can. The reason we now have asymmetric tyres are for the car manufacturers, it means and wheel can do on any corner and they don't have to fit wheels in pairs.

Also, don't buy that tyre. 5mm my ass.

Yea that was my first thought too. So I took it down to my mates garage to get it patched up and he said it's too close to the edge. So I assumed plugging it would be too dangerous.

Thanks for clearing that up. And yes I think I will leave that tyre. Thanks everyone for the heads up.
