Arrrggghhh - Wife can't make up her mind. She likes the look of the Yeti SE tdi 110 in white whereas I'm more minded toward the new facelifted X1 18d

Neither car is my choice, its the two she likes and keeps changing her mind and its driving me nuts.

As Ive never owned either can anyone share any ownership experiences that may help me in helping her decide - sensible ones please as I've tried threatening her, locking her in the shed and trapping her fingers in the knife draw.

Thanks in advance

For what they are I'd be going for the Yeti and saving myself a few bob to start with. My nan's been running one for the last six months and I have "borrowed" it a couple of times and I really can't fault it in any way, shape or form.

Likewise, I'd go for the Yeti.

It says something about a car when it makes the Yeti look pretty.

Yeti seems to get nothing but rave reviews, funky and practical.

The Yeti is cool. Quite happy being what it is. The X1 looks like it is trying too hard.

Yeti. wink

The X1 is a horror show. Go for the Skoda!

Kudos to the wife for not being swayed by badge snobbery either and just liking the car for what it is. Still a lot of people seem to have issues with driving around in a Skoda.. fools!

My Wife has an X1, I'd go for the Yeti as it's cheaper than the X1 and can't be any worse.

Thanks for the opinions. If I'm honest the badge thing is more the influencer for me boxedin

We have driven both and the Yeti drives better imho but the BMW is a far classier act in terms of appearance on the inside. The Yeti looks low rent in comparison.

Just make sure you get a 4wd one otherwise there's a whole raft of choices better to drive.

All I remember about the Yeti is the very upright back seats - awful to sit in for more than 15 mins or so....

My inlaws have a Yeti, It's the 160bhp 2.0 and it's pretty loaded with kit as it's an ex demonstrator. 4x4 obviously (in their 60's and in a rural area, having been snowed in befor they like the ability to get to the shops in a hard winter)

They love it and it gets decent Mpg. Looks nice too.

Evo had one as a long termenr and loved it, it was their camera/kit car but was apparently a surprisingly good drive too.

X1 looks like you HAD to have a BMW, are such a fashionista that it had to be a crossover, and don't have the money for anything better. And owners reports aren't good.

Have never driven an X1 but had a Yeti loner for a day whilst the Octavia was being serviced and it seemed to be a well screwed together piece of kit and an OK thing to drive. Will consider one in a few years when they're a bit older and cheaper and the Octavia needs replacing in it's daily workhorse role.

In which case, that's another solid vote for the Yeti. IMO Skoda projects a certain reverse-cool, in that you know what it is and how good it is and you really don't care what the hoi polloi think.

Plus the X1 is a design disaster, it looks like a committee decided that they needed to fit a model of a certain size and configuration into the range and this was all they could come up with in a hurry.

Did you see the Skoda stand at Goodwood? I thought it was the coolest stand of the whole show! Loved it there. A really good atmosphere.

A friend is leasing one through his company for 6months. Saw it in the flesh last week and was impressed especially in white. My friend only had it for a month but very impressed so far, so much so he has just put in his order for a another new one in 6months time.
