Help please.
Need to buy a new car as have had knee operation and need an automatic now, so Defender has to go.
If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them;
Budget c. £25,000
4/5 door
automatic
Not fussed on mpg as not huge mileage done p.a.
Comfortable + rapid (magic carpet ride)
Not too old, (like a warranty)
Estate or saloon

Like the idea of something that has done some huge depreciating already !

Thanks for all the help/ideas.

I'm doing some thinking for you now, however in the mean time may I suggest having a browse on the beta classifieds?

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/

Its really good, and you can put in all those variables you've mentioned.

Couple of cars I've found

Jaguar XF, few of these for the same money Diesels

Or this one just under budget by £5 for the V8

Orrrrr there is this beast, AUDI S8 S8 FSI QUATTRO 5.2 V10 has already done 70k but if you're not going to be using it much im my opinion this is a bargain. http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

Auto conversion on your Defender?

Or sticking with the 4x4 theme, Disco 3/4 V8. Hummer H3 or Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Other than that I'd probably be looking at Jags.

Something like this maybe? The ride might not be supple enough though.

I'm biased as I've got one but

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4066710.htm

just try and find one with the adaptive suspension for the magic carpet ride (this is somethign the Msport suspension definately doesn't give you).

I also really, really like these.

Agreed. Looks like a 5 Series slept with a Prius or something.

They do look a bit "disabled" I must admit. They look much better in the flesh though.

They are supposed to be magnificintly competent and comfortable things though.

He's recently swapped to Bentley !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last 2 were a nightmare - both were returned to Jaguar after repeatedly breaking down, and they cost £78,000 each !!!!!

Had an Alpina D3, which model would you suggest I look at please ?

That V10 Audi does look great for the money, also the Arnage would really offer a sense of occasion.

I think the saloon version could be considered so yes.

That's one of the reasons I've got the touring. There aren't that many E61 M-sports knocking about that I have noticed.

Only issue with them is the ride, it's not magic carpet at all. The SE is meant to be much mopre compliant but they don't look as nice. That's why it would be ideal to get one with the adaptive suspension - seem very hard to find with that specc'd though.

The 5GT fits your criteria perfectly though.
