I started one in the Middle East (I'm in Dubai) forum but I guess there's no reason why I can't throw it out to GG.

One other thing to bear in mind is we do get most of the American models as well so that can widen the net.

I'm looking for a 4x4 (the capability will get used for desert camping etc...) that has sound off-road credentials, and is still comfy - great road manners isn't as important. Either new or no more than two years old.

Top of my list is the upper models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7l Hemi unit. I think it looks quite handsome and the reviews have been very positive thanks to it being based on the Merc ML.

I had a Grand Cherokee before, a 2004 model, and loved it, superb in the dunes and it never missed a beat.

I suppose the UK budget would be around GPB 35-38k

The Wrangler isn't sophisticated enough although I love them.

F150 - not interested in a pick up.

FJ Cruiser - not keen on the styling and visibility is a joke - not good with the wife.

LR 4 - a contender but worried about reliabilty.

Thanks for the input smile
