Hi Guys,

I'm Sam, I'm 25 and I'm a bit of a noob with all this PH malarkey. Basically, I just bought an RX8 231 with 39,000 on the clock.. Took it for a test drive, it felt great and can see it could be a lot of fun! I knew a few facts about the wankel engine before I bought it but after coming across this website and seeing some of the threads, Im sh!tting myself! I need some good reassurance and owners advice, preferably from people who has dealt with them and not 'my mate owns one and' types..

Thanks for taking your time to read this and hopefully your replys!

Your a brave man! Lol. I was going to buy one too but changed my mind. Check the oil everytime you fill up with petrol and make sure you thrash it to 9k every journey once its warmed up.

A warranty with warranty direct/warranty wise etc may be advisable.

I must be a brave man cause if the Mrs reads some of these doom and gloom posts, I'm a dead man! I'm gonna do a lot of research and keep it well maintained. I dont wanna thrash it yet as its literally my first car!

it doesnt matter what car you buy, you will hear horror stories, just have fun with it, every car has a down fall and there the points of the car that are most focussed on rather than the good parts of the car, i have to admit i have never had any involvement with one put i have heard that they are a cracking car, just enjoy it, if you worry about it, you will never have a chance to get to know it properly as you would become scared of using it to its full capability, enjoy biggrin

My mate owns one. He likes it. He's an Olympic volunteer, you know. He's older than you, OP.

With PHs if you reseached before the purchase you would either never end up buying anything or an MX5. Although an RX8 is going to be a steep learning curve.

Idiot possibly! Went to look at a 07' Honda Civic Vtec but fell in love with this beauty. I'll post some pics soon enough but its probably nothing you haven't seen before!

Bloke at work has one. If you believed everything the doom-mongers said, the RX8 would be completely impossible for this guy to own. He is simply not mechanically-minded and treats his car as a white goods. He loves it, yes, but isn't the slightest bit interested in knowing about it more than the intereswting facts about it to reel-off to enthusiasts.

You'll be fine. It's a much easier car to live with than the 13Bs and such fitted to the RX7s.

Not at all, we've all done the same in the past I'm sure. If all of our car purchases were rational we'd be posting on the 'What Car' forum...

Oh, and welcome to PH BTW. smile

You sound really chuffed with it mate and it brings a smile to my face just reading your posts. TBH other than having a well documented drinking habit (oil and petrol) they're a cracking car. Just take your time finding it's and your limits would be my only advice.
