If I were to fit some hub spacers, say 15mm, and the wheel studs are part of the hub, how do I get on with the shortened stud length? Obviously I can't buy longer studs as they're part of the hub?

Studs can usually be removed and replaced - I'd be very surprised if they were actually part of the hub. What car is it?

My Mazda 6 has studs - real pain to swap them out I hear.

Some of the 15mm spacers (eibach) have stubby nuts that hold the spacer to the hub, and then additional studs that attached the wheel to the spacer. They're not cheap but cheaper than changing the studs & easily reversable

You want some hubcentric bolt on spacers. They will bolt to your hub and have their own studs for you to bolt your wheel on to.

Minimum depth dictated by the length of your original studs.
