Starting Trouble?
Discussion
Okay, so 2 weeks ago my car (2001 Pug 306 Hdi) started having trouble starting... It sounded like a stuck starter solonid, so I changed the starter. Fixed it for 2 days, then same again. Next I cleaned all the wiring connections in the fuse box. No luck, so added a second earth strap. That fixed it for a week. Now back to square 1 again and rapidly running out of ideas. It makes a 'click' like a stuck starter, but Im 99% its not that. As I said, its had a brand new starter.
Is there a starter relay somewhere Im missing? What else is there to check?
It had a new battery (from the scrappy) a month ago and I dont think its that because the car refuses to even turn over. If it turned over slowly I could understand.....

Bypassing the solenoid is fun, illuminating and dangerous all at the same time.
You should give it a go.
I know, but its buried that deep in the engine the bit I want to get at is not accessible. You should give it a go.
As far as lack of amps - its about all I can think of. I did jump it from another car, but it also went 'click' while on the jump leads as well, so im not especially confident thats it. Another thing to cross off I guess.
