WHAT CAR - £3000 Budget, 'interesting' suggestions welcomed

Afternoon chaps,

Contrary to a few what cars threads, this one WILL result in a car purchase of which a thread will be started of said car and it's escapades.

I am running an S1 Elise 111S as a track/weekend car and a Mark 4 Fiesta as a daily. The Fester is just about at the end of its life and is ready to be replaced, hence the replacement car criterion is as follows:

- Budget £3000 (getting married in 3 months hence funds are being annihilated)
- Reasonably Quick
- Reasonably Practical (no 2 seaters)
- Not silly expensive to run (Alfa GTV and RX8 are ruled out from prior experience)
- Fortunately I don't care about MPG
